Dales Gorge

Only 2 Gorge's are open today due to recent heavy rain.
We walked along the cliff top to look down on Circular Pool....access blocked by a big rockfall.
We were able to go down into the gorge though, via rock steps then along the creek to Fortescue Falls...several swimming holes along the way.
Asbestos layers in the rock.
Fortescue Falls and the large pool at the bottom looked spectacular as we crossed the outlet on stepping stones.
The water was beautiful!!! and the setting amazing....red cliffs on both sides.
Lots of people on the rocks around and swimming.

We had a long swim...very clear, clean, deep, refreshing water.
Later walked a little further to Fern Pool
Very quiet but also beautiful.
We were the only ones swimming for a while.
Fish nibbling toes left in the water, shower under the waterfall.

We deserved our dinner tonight!
Seem to have solved our battery issue with the extra solar panels.

Another 500km across mostly treeless plains today. We are using our drums of diesel careful to avoid the highest prices across the Nullarbor...up to $2.22 a litre. We know when a Roadhouse is approaching as we can see the communications tower from 5 km away....nice to have some reception for a short time. Each Roadhouse has a golf hole....no real fairway but fancy artificial grass for the greens. Stopped at Yalata an Aboriginal Community....they are part of the tribe moved from the Maralinga Region to allow the bomb testing to go ahead...they are now spread over a wide area. The community itself is closed due to Covid risk. The caravan park has only been open for 5 months with brand new facilities and a very cherpy chatty manager.

Jerramungup

We have stopped half way to Albany. It has been a very very windy day...hot wind to begin with. We stopped at Ravensthorpe for lunch and it sounded like the roof was going to blow off! Silo art of local banksias....many of which were growing in the main Street. As we drove further it began to pour with rain and it got very cold.....decided to call it a day at Jerramungup.......everything is something up here.

Cowell

Drove 100km down the coast....crops growing...the first we have seen since the wheat fields of WA. Cowell is a small town with several nice old buildings...100 yrs +....this used to be a busy port....now a sleepy small town  Walked out along the jetty and through the mangroves. No social distancing here! It is very cold....we have got out all of our jumpers, jackets, gloves and hats!
