We have had a very long day.....bumping our way along a corrugated dirt road...multiple creek crossings ...56km took 2 hrs.
Headed down to the Bungle Bungle range....the sandstone rock formations are amazing....domes, beehives...what ever you call them they are quite unique with their orange and black stripes.
The rock formations were on too large a scale to convey in a photo.....drones not allowed.
Walked in to cathedral gorge between the domes....large area under a cliff....white sand and a little water remaining.
then on to Echidna Chasm.
A very narrow chasm 180m deep cut through the sandstone......it went on an on twisting and turning.....in some places the walls were less than 2 metres apart......you could imagine the water thundering down in the wet....sweeping everything with it.
Then another bone shuddering 21/2 hour trip home....a great day....dinner and drinks around the pit fire.

Another 500km across mostly treeless plains today. We are using our drums of diesel careful to avoid the highest prices across the Nullarbor...up to $2.22 a litre. We know when a Roadhouse is approaching as we can see the communications tower from 5 km away....nice to have some reception for a short time. Each Roadhouse has a golf hole....no real fairway but fancy artificial grass for the greens. Stopped at Yalata an Aboriginal Community....they are part of the tribe moved from the Maralinga Region to allow the bomb testing to go ahead...they are now spread over a wide area. The community itself is closed due to Covid risk. The caravan park has only been open for 5 months with brand new facilities and a very cherpy chatty manager.

We have stopped half way to Albany. It has been a very very windy day...hot wind to begin with. We stopped at Ravensthorpe for lunch and it sounded like the roof was going to blow off! Silo art of local banksias....many of which were growing in the main Street. As we drove further it began to pour with rain and it got very cold.....decided to call it a day at Jerramungup.......everything is something up here.

Cowell

Drove 100km down the coast....crops growing...the first we have seen since the wheat fields of WA. Cowell is a small town with several nice old buildings...100 yrs +....this used to be a busy port....now a sleepy small town  Walked out along the jetty and through the mangroves. No social distancing here! It is very cold....we have got out all of our jumpers, jackets, gloves and hats!
