Tried out the natural grass tennis courts at the local tennis club....the bounce was very low.
Walked along the river then through the wetlands next to the river
....pelicans in the trees, lots of tiny ducklings, red rumped parrots, yellow rosellas ( just like crimson rosellas....only yellow), a pond alive with frog mating calls.
All roads into Millstream Chichester National Park are closed due to flooding so we have headed North to Dampier. Out here it is so flat that an inch of rain can cause widespread flooding. Interesting rock formations covered in Spinifex and an occasional hardy tree. Dampier is a port....4 ships with Chinese names having iron ore poured into them by a continuous conveyer belt......but very quietly....no industrial noise at all (till the still of the night) Nice foreshore. This is the home of "Red Dog"...(just had to download the book to read again, movie not on Netflix ) Enjoyed walking the Esplanade and a drink overlooking the bay. Yet another stunning sunset.
Final day in Exmouth. Visit to the lighthouse on the Cape.... built in response to ship wrecks on the reef. wondered at the 13 300 metre high towers producing ultra low frequency radio waves to communicate with submarines up to 350km off the coast and 40m deep. Final visit to the best cafe in town. Swimming of course......and that was that! Farewell Exmouth.
